Louis is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Law (J.D. with Honors Order of the Coif Honorary Society) and received the LLM in Taxation from Georgetown University. He joined the firm in 1965 and became a named partner in 1977. Mr. Friedman was Associate Professor of Taxation at the University of Baltimore from 1975-1987. He was repeatedly selected as a Super Lawyer by The Baltimore Magazine in the field of Estate Planning. Practice areas include estate and trust planning, estate and trust administration, corporate and partnership law, and the law of non-profit foundations. He was counsel to Franklin B. Biggs, in U.S. v. Biggs, a landmark case dealing with tax-free exchanges, a major taxpayer victory decided by the U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals. He represents both businesses and individuals, serves on boards of numerous non-profit organizations, and is counsel for Masonic Charities of Maryland, Inc. Mr. Friedman is Managing Partner of the firm.
